Nickerson & O’Day Inc. constructed a three-story, 5700 SF addition to the rear of the historic building on Court Street in Bangor, complete with a new elevator, wood windows, wood siding, and an asphalt shingle and EPDM roof. The inside was finished with hardwood floors, trim and wainscot from the owner’s own harvested wood products. In the existing building, a new sprinkler system was installed requiring the removal and careful reinstallation of hardwood floors. A walk-in concrete vault was also removed on the main floor, requiring the replication of the detailed, 150 year-old decorative plaster in that room.
