After outgrowing their accommodations within the Brewer City Hall building, the Brewer Public Safety division has a new home. The 30,000 SF facility houses the Brewer Police Department and the Brewer Fire Department in two separate, but connected, wings. The site is adjacent to the interstate and in a prime central location.
This new facility provides the Brewer Police and Fire Departments with a modern and spacious work environment. In contrast to their last facility, which consisted of one all-purpose room, the new building affords larger office spaces with modern technology upgrades, greater locker room space with separate areas for men and women, specialty equipment areas, and a sally-port. There is also a fitness room, a training/conference room, and separate bays for each police cruiser.
* On October 27, 2008, Nickerson & O’Day’s President Karl Ward, previous Safety Director Walter Shannon, Brewer Police Sgt. Rich Smith and Brewer Fire Cpt. Brent Melvin, traveled to Hangar 17 at New York’s JFK airport to hand-pick a piece of steel from the 9/11/2001 collapse of the World Trade Center. This steel was brought home to the new Brewer Public Safety Building on October 29th and now proudly hangs in the fire truck bay of the facility.
