This project involved the adaptive reuse of historic waterworks to provide 35 units of senior housing. NOD applied value engineering to design and price multiple structural systems, located a vendor capable of providing custom windows at an affordable price, and helped solve a unique life safety egress problem. The project was delivered approximately $320,000 under budget and three months ahead of schedule.
Challenges included extensive site construction on a very tight site bounded by the Penobscot River, active railroad tracks, and U.S. Route 2.
“Nickerson & O’Day did an excellent job of executing the work, bringing the project in on time and under budget.” -John Rohman, previous CEO of WBRC Architects in regards to the Bangor Waterworks project in Bangor, Maine
