The Maine Hall project is the adaptive reuse of a circa 1830s dormitory building on the Bangor Theological Seminary campus for low-income housing. The project transformed the 20,000 SF building into 24 modern housing units. An addition contains the new elevator, community space, and four additional units. Challenges included satisfying the diverse interests of multiple funding sources including LIHTC, historic preservation tax credits, and investors and doing so in a manner that earned LEED Silver Certification.
*The Maine Hall Project received Maine Preservation’s Historic Preservation Honor Award for 2012.
