As the needs and “tastes” of the UMaine on-campus student population has changes, so must the dining facilities and their offerings. The $5.1 million makeover of the 40-year old Hilltop Commons (originally opened in the fall of 1967) included completely renovating the commercial kitchen with nearly $1 Million in new equipment, replacing all HVAC systems and all interior finishes and adding reconfigured and re-styled interior decor and dining areas. The work was completed on time and over 2% under budget by Nickerson & O’Day Inc.
