When the Jackson Lab decided to close down their “lodge” cafeteria facility and construct a new high end “commons”, they selected NOD as their CM partner. A major challenge for the project was that the schedule was largely dictated by time windows in their highly sensitive mouse production and science program. It was only during these windows that ledge blasting and other disruptive activities could be tolerated.

The architect’s initial schematic design was already significantly over-budget and NOD managed an intensive value engineering effort that commenced on Day One. Using fast-track delivery, the Commons was completed just 12 months after the initial kick-off meeting, in time for the Lab’s holiday party.
